Richard Hartwell, a U.S. Navy veteran, founded Lake Diabetes in 1991 with his wife Joanne, a certified diabetes educator.  After almost 20 years of steady growth the company now has three offices across central Florida and customers all over the country.  True to our roots, we incorporate the core principles of excellent patient care into everything we do.

We understand that we are part of a circle of care that includes patients, their families, physicians, nurses, insurance companies and other healthcare professionals and organizations.  Working harmoniously with our partners, we strive to help as many patients as possible take control of their diabetes and related complications by providing distinctive, personalized service and the highest quality service.  It is our sincere hope that our efforts help our patients live happier, healthier lives.

Richard and Joanne Hartwell retired in 2009 and sold the business to new ownership who share their values.  Lake Diabetes continues to be founded upon doing what’s right for our patients and serving as a trusted partner in each patient’s circle of care.  Richard and Joanne continue to serve as trusted advisors to the company.
